Google Pack – Feature Requests and Suggestions: Display software version/revision level

by Maskil on June 21, 2008

Just published the following (somewhat pedestrian) suggestion on the Google Pack Help site. Even to me it seems a little mundane, but also something that should have been there from the start. The full text of the suggestion appears below:

Google Pack – Feature Requests and Suggestions

Display software version/revision level

I’d like to suggest that the software version or revision level be displayed on Google Updater and the Google Pack website.

For Google Updater, versions should be displayed under:

  • Installed Software

On the Google Pack home page versions should be displayed under:

  • Customizable: Choose only the software you want
  • You already have this software
  • Learn more about Google Pack Software

This would allow the user to determine whether the current or latest version is installed or not, and whether a manual upgrade should be effected, e.g. in the case of Skype, the Google Pack version is 3.6.x, whereas the latest version is 3.8.x.
