Google Pack now includes StarOffice

by Maskil on 29 Aug 2007

I was interested to note that Google Pack now includes the well-known StarOffice open-source office suite. I take this as a signal that Google Pack is not being allowed to languish, and of Google’s commitment to “free stuff” of all shades (including open-source).

Until now, and depending on your country and operating system, the following products have generally formed part of Google Pack (RealPlayer is not included for Vista):

  • Adobe Reader
  • Firefox with Google Toolbar
  • Google Desktop
  • Google Earth
  • Google Photos Screensaver
  • Google Talk
  • Google Toolbar for IE
  • Norton Security Scan
  • Picasa
  • RealPlayer
  • Skype
  • Spyware Doctor

The products have now been joined by StarOffice (includes Javaâ„¢)

If you want to kit our your brand new, bare-bones PC with a solid collection of free stuff to dip your toes into, then Google Pack is the place to start.
